Gasification plant for Bedfordshire

One of the UK’s first gasification plants is to be built at a composting site in Bedfordshire by the end of the year.

The 1.5-megawatt plant, being built by developer Purepower, will process 12,000 tonnes of waste wood per year.

Purepower has signed an agreement with composting firm Growing Beds Recycling Services to build the plant on its land and to supply the feedstock, which means the plant can finally go ahead. Planning permission for the plant was granted in 2006.
