Tweaks planned for packaging regulations

Subject to ministerial approval, DEFRA hopes to:

• Introduce administrative penalties for offences under the regulations
• Remove the option for individual compliance
• Update references and ensure consistency in the treatment of individual compliers and schemes

The Department is aiming changes to come into force in 2009, though any changes to individual registration will not come into effect until 2010.
