Aviation to come under EUETS from 2011

European flights would be included in the EU emissions trading scheme (EUETS) from 2011, according to proposals for amending the EUETS Directive. But airlines will receive most of their allowances for free, potentially allowing them to make billions of euros in windfall profits.
