Greater Manchester opts for MBT over incineration

Greater Manchester Waste Disposal Authority opted for mechanical-biological treatment (MBT) instead of incineration when it awarded a 25-year waste disposal contract to a Viridor-led consortium in January. Five anaerobic digestion plants will be built to treat the authority’s waste.
