Rates appeal rejected for Dounreay nuclear site

An attempt by the UK Atomic Energy Authority to have its Dounreay nuclear site considered as ‘not in rateable occupation’ has been rejected by the Lands Valuation Appeal Court. However, the site, which is at the start of a 60-year decommissioning process, gained a £665,000 reduction in its rateable value.
