Rules for radioactive contamination extended to scotland

The Scottish Executive has amended the contaminated land regulations to include radioactive pollution.1

The amendments take effect on 30 October 2007 and replicate those already made in England (ENDS Report 377, p 36 ).

The changes require the Scottish Environment Protection Agency to inspect and designate land believed to have radioactive contamination and secure its remediation.
