Bush inches towards a new UN climate deal

The US joined other G8 nations at their recent summit in Germany in accepting the need for a UN agreement to cut greenhouse gas emissions. But it stopped short of endorsing the Kyoto Protocol as the vehicle for such an agreement, or accepting the need for binding emission targets.
