Cadmium soil limits need to be slashed, study finds

A study by UK agricultural scientists shows that more protective metal standards are needed for soils receiving sewage sludge fertiliser.1 The permitted level of cadmium in soils needs to be reduced by up to 80% to ensure that grain does not exceed EU food safety limits.
