85% of beaches set to meet guideline water quality standard

Some 85% of the UK’s coastal bathing waters could meet ‘good’ guideline water quality standards, the Marine Conservation Society (MCS) has concluded. Although the result is better than might be expected in view of the extreme weather, the MCS argues that more will need to be done to improve sewers.
