NGOs push for tougher action on corporate abuses overseas

NGOs have accused the Government of being biased, secretive and ineffectual in investigating complaints brought under OECD guidelines on the environmental and social standards of multinational companies overseas. Their claims come as the Government closes a consultation in which it proposes more stakeholder input to the process.
