Clean vehicles quota on EU agenda

The European Commission has proposed a new Directive which would require a quarter of public sector heavy-duty vehicles - including buses and refuse lorries - to use clean vehicle technology.1 In a related development, it has finally issued formal proposals for new emissions standards for cars and light duty vehicles, which will apply from 2008.2
