N Ireland water fines lag behind
The latest water pollution incidents report from the Northern Ireland Environment and Heritage Service shows the body has been successful in bringing up to 100 water pollution cases to court a year (see table).1
However, the level of fines awarded by the courts is well below those in the rest of the United Kingdom.
