Coal-fired power stations 'kill 7,000 people per year'
The UK's coal-fired power stations cause almost 7,000 premature deaths per year, according to a European pollution league table from a Swedish environmental group.1 Scottish Power - which runs Longannet, the worst-performing plant - called the report "simplistic, scare-mongering and absurd".
