Government still opposes illegal timber legislation

The government has reiterated its support for the EU’s voluntary licensing scheme for imports of timber in its response to a report from the House of Commons Environmental Audit Committee.1 The committee says the scheme will fail to stem deforestation without a ban on illegally logged timber.
