Landfill engineering fuels surge in tyre recovery
Tyre recovery leapt from 85% to 94% in 2005 due to stronger demand from landfill operators and cement kilns. But there is concern that this growth will not be sustained and July’s ban on landfilling shredded tyres will lead to greater stockpiling and fly-tipping.
