Minewater clean-up on hold following DTI cuts
The Coal Authority's minewater clean-up programme has been frozen following a Department for Trade and Industry spending review which is expected to slash its budget. The environment agencies are concerned the cuts will breach the water framework Directive and lead to prosecution in the European Court.
