Ofwat presses case for water competition

Ofwat is seeking to widen the market for competition between water suppliers. In a letter to Environment Minister Ian Pearson,1 the regulator complained of "little or no progress" in establishing competition, despite the introduction of a new licensing regime designed to facilitate it in December 2005 (ENDS Report 371, p 35 ).
