Scots allow public participation in water decisions

Regulations issued by the Scottish Executive in November require the Scottish Environment Protection Agency to notify third parties who have made representations on applications for water authorisations.1

The regulations amend the Water Environment (Controlled Activities) (Scotland) Regulations 2005, requiring SEPA to tell third parties of its decisions on applications for variation or surrender of authorisations. The amendments are intended to enable third parties to notify objections to ministers.
