Agency falls behind on contaminated land

The Environment Agency is facing an increase in inspection workload under the contaminated land regime and has fallen well behind its targets for site remediation. Meanwhile, the latest figures show that local authorities have formally determined 234 "sites" as contaminated land - but no less than 109 of these relate to a single housing estate in Manchester.
