First UK curbs on farm phosphorus coming in Northern Ireland
A third and final consultation on the long overdue implementation of EU rules on nitrate pollution by agriculture has been launched by the Northern Ireland Executive.1 The proposals include some tough restrictions on spreading of farm wastes on land - and would also break new ground in the UK by cracking down on over-enrichment of soils and waters by phosphate from manures, fertilisers and animal feeds.
