Brussels complaint adds to pressure for Thames super-sewer
A complaint to the European Commission over storm sewage discharges in London has turned up the heat on the Government to agree a £2 billion plan to build a 35-kilometre super sewer. The Government has delayed giving the scheme the go-ahead, despite the capital’s sewage system appearing to breach the 1991 EU Directive on urban wastewater treatment.
