Experts call for more work on PFOS risks
The EU Scientific Committee on Health and Environmental Risks (SCHER) has found fault with a UK risk reduction strategy on perfluorooctane sulphonate (PFOS), an intermediate and degradation product found in applications like non-stick coatings.1 The Committee accepts that risk reduction measures may well be needed, but says that new assessments are required in view of the chemical’s unusual properties.
