Legal challenge to cement kiln application

Public consultation procedures on controversial PPC applications are likely to take longer following a judicial review against the Environment Agency on its 2003 decision to permit the trial burning of tyres at a cement works. The court upheld the legal validity of the decision, but held that the Agency should have made available an internal report on air quality assessment during the consultation process.
