Agriculture and environmental assessment
The High Court has given its first interpretation of regulations introduced in 2001 to implement the EU Directive on environmental assessment in respect of agricultural intensification on uncultivated or semi-natural areas. The ruling, though consistent with the wording of the Directive, opens up potential weaknesses in the protection of natural areas.
