Crisis looms on CRTs

The prospect of a crisis next year in dealing with old televisions and computer monitors remains a distinct possibility. In June, the UK's only manufacturer of cathode ray tubes stopped using glass recovered from old CRTs to make new ones. There is also confusion over whether treated glass counts as hazardous waste and whether it can be exported for recovery - or meet the waste acceptance criteria for landfill in the UK.
