Contaminated land regime extended to tackle radioactivity
The Environment Department (DEFRA) has published a consultation paper and draft regulations to extend the contaminated land regime in England to cover radioactivity.1 The package will also change the wider contaminated land regime so that appeals against remediation notices will be heard by the Secretary of State rather than magistrates courts.
