Farmers pay £38,000 for sheep dip pollution
Two Cumbrian farmers were fined £1,500 each in August and ordered to pay £35,000 in costs to the Environment Agency after sheep dip from their farm polluted the river Lyvennett. The pollution almost wiped out populations of white-clawed crayfish and freshwater shrimp along a five-kilometre stretch of the river.
