Interest grows in kitchen waste collections

At least five local authorities are rolling out kerbside organic waste collections that focus on kitchen waste rather than garden waste - partly to minimise household waste arisings. But a bigger question is whether councils need separate organic waste collection of any sort, or if they can meet their landfill diversion and recycling targets simply by collecting dry recyclables and sending residual household refuse to an MBT plant.
