Pesticides use increasing, DEFRA survey shows

The number of pesticide products applied to arable crops has increased from an average of seven to ten per crop over the past ten years, according to a survey commissioned by the Environment Department (DEFRA) and the Scottish Executive.1 The number of applications per crop has also risen, although the amount of active ingredient applied has fallen.
