The European Court of Justice has given a judgment which continues its trend of encouraging the integration of competition and environment considerations. It has ruled it to be acceptable under EU public procurement law for tenders for the supply of electricity to specify that it must be sourced from renewable sources - as long as the process is carried out in a verifiable manner.
