Mounting concerns over Agency's drive to churn out IPPC permits

Consultants and inspectors are expressing concerns that the Environment Agency's drive to speed up permitting is undermining the transparency and rigour of the integrated pollution prevention and control (IPPC) regime. The Agency has backed away from serving applicants with formal requests for information - and some inspectors are uneasy about the quality of work by the Agency's new centralised permitting groups.
