Deca-BDE given all-clear despite mounting environmental concerns
EU Member States have taken the highly unusual step of signing off a risk assessment of the widely used flame retardant deca-BDE despite mounting evidence of environmental contamination. The move has been condemned by environmental groups - which point to the compound's accumulation in birds, polar bears and humans to support their call for a ban.
