Higher scrap prices throw ELV treatment plans into doubt
Major car dismantlers and the Environment Agency remain confident that there will be enough authorised treatment facilities (ATFs) in place to de-pollute end-of-life vehicles in line with new EU requirements. But if recent higher prices for steel scrap are maintained, many ELVs could be de-polluted by sites which fall outside the car manufacturers' ATF networks.
