Nature conservation and human rights
The legal validity of English Nature's procedures for designating Sites of Special Scientific Interest has been upheld by the Court of Appeal. The decision contains important principles concerning the significance of Government policy, and confirms that at the end of the day English Nature must exercise its independent judgement according to the criteria laid down in the legislation.
