Catalyst firm fined £12,000 for 11-hour illegal emission

UOP, a leading supplier of catalysts to the oil and gas industry, has been fined £12,000 after emitting hydrochloric acid up to four times over its permitted limit for 11 hours. The incident at the company's Enfield works was the latest in a series which led to a catalogue of enforcement action by the Environment Agency.
