Measures to promote cooperation between local waste authorities

Draft guidance on English councils' new duty to cooperate in the preparation of joint municipal waste management strategies was issued for consultation by the Environment Department (DEFRA) on 20 July. The new system applies in two-tier areas in which responsibilities for disposal and collection are split between counties and districts.
