Nuclear secrecy casts pall over new rules on access to information

Proposals to implement the revised EU Directive on public access to environmental information were issued for consultation by the Environment Department (DEFRA) at the end of July.1 The new regime will be more liberal than its predecessor - but its impending introduction has been overshadowed by official plans to greatly restrict public access to information on the nuclear industry.
