Rhodia and Huntsman fined £40,000 each for acid spill

Huntsman Surface Sciences and Rhodia Consumer Specialities were each fined £40,000 in August after admitting causing a spillage of 350 tonnes of sulphuric acid near Whitehaven. Ambiguities concerning the two companies' responsibilities for maintenance were to blame.
