Brick firm fined £8,000 for silt pollution

Northumberland brick maker Swarland was fined £8,000 by Alnwick magistrates on 2 August. The company pleaded guilty to polluting the Coe Burn and river Aln with silt, contrary to sections 85(1) and (6) of the Water Resources Act 1991.
