Manufacturing downturn hits green spending
Industry spending on environmental protection fell significantly in 2002 - possibly by more than 10% - according to the latest survey for the Environment Department (DEFRA).1 The only sectors whose spending increased were those associated with the construction boom, such as the non-metallic minerals and furniture sectors.
