Air quality benefits claimed for London congestion charge
Models of air pollution from traffic in central London show that the city's congestion charging scheme has cut emissions of both nitrogen oxides (NOX) and fine particulates (PM10) by about 12%. However, actual measurements have yet to show the expected improvements - largely due to unusual weather patterns and variation between monitoring sites.
