Pressure mounts on water companies' investment plans
Pressure on Ministers and Ofwat is mounting as the water industry's fourth price review approaches its endgame. Environment Agency chairman Sir John Harman has criticised United Utilities' investment plans, saying it needs to spend more to bring north-west water quality up to the standard. Meanwhile, London Mayor Ken Livingstone has called on Ofwat to support a super-sewer scheme to protect the Thames.
