Deregulation drive sticks out in DEFRA's five-year strategy
A handful of new initiatives were included in a five-year strategy unveiled by the Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs in December.1 The document was offered as evidence of a "new drive to deliver environmental leadership" by an administration under increasing fire over its green record - but is at least as notable for what it reveals about the Government's programme of deregulation at home and efforts to block new environmental laws at EU level.
