Weaknesses in nuisance law exposed by Mogden sewage odour saga
Fresh legal clashes over Britain's worst sewage odour pollution problem have cast renewed doubt on the effectiveness of the Government's policy of dealing with the issue through the statutory nuisance regime. Litigation over odours from Thames Water's Mogden sewage works is set to run into a fourth year - and uncertainty over the availability of funding for odour abatement is also continuing.
