Shredders win further reprieve on de-pollution of ELVs
The Environment Agency has granted shredder operators their third reprieve in five months and given them until 31 January to install de-pollution rigs for end-of-life vehicles (ELVs) or bear the extra cost of sending shredder residue to disposal facilities for hazardous waste. The saga is partly due to the Government's delay in indicating how it will define what constitutes an "adequate" network of ELV recycling facilities.
