Two-speed guidance for non-ferrous metals firms under IPPC

Non-ferrous metals businesses regulated by local authorities under the integrated pollution prevention and control (IPPC) regime will be allowed to meet less stringent emission limits than companies controlled by the Environment Agency, according to draft guidance issued by the Environment Department.1 Nevertheless, companies are unhappy about the more prescriptive approach taken for smaller operations.
