European Court ruling could prevent incinerators issuing PRNs

Operators of municipal waste incinerators in the UK may lose their windfall from the issue of packaging waste recovery notes (PRNs) as early as next year following a ruling by the European Court of Justice that burning waste in dedicated incinerators should be classified as a disposal operation rather than recovery.
