Steep fall in dioxins and PCBs in food
Dioxin and PCB levels in food declined by about 50% between 1997 and 2001, according to the Food Standards Agency.1 It ascribes the fall to tighter controls on industrial processes and believes that further declines are in the pipeline. However, some 10% of children and 35% of toddlers still exceed tolerable intake levels.
