MPs give Darling a bumpy ride on climate impacts of aviation

Growth in air traffic threatens to "wreck" the Government's long-term ambitions to reduce the UK's greenhouse gas emissions, according to a hard-hitting report by the House of Commons Environmental Audit Committee.1 The MPs accuse the Department for Transport of "overt bias" in favour of airport expansion, and cast grave doubt on the economic benefits of aviation growth. However, another Committee has backed expansion of Gatwick or Heathrow.2
