Paltry penalties for silt pollution offences
The courts are continuing to hand out low fines to aggregate and construction businesses for silt pollution of watercourses, despite the pleas of environmental regulators. Cornish clay firm Goonvean has been fined only £1,500 after twice turning four miles of a river white.
